Women's Issues

There are a number of issues that are unique to being a woman and working with a therapist with experience in these issues can sometimes be necessary.

For example, breast cancer is, unfortunately, a widely experienced disease, effecting one in eight women at some point in their lifetime. And most likely almost all women will at some point have a sister, mother, partner or close friend diagnosed. The time of diagnosis and treatment can be frightening and existential times for most women with breast cancer. Most women find that many areas of their lives are affected by a diagnosis: sexuality, body-image, family, friends, work, etc. Working with a knowledgeable therapist during this time can significantly assist in coping with, making sense of, and surviving the diagnosis and treatment in a way that can lead to a positive life experience post-treatment.

Other issues that are unique to women that I have worked with in my practice include grieving a miscarriage, adjusting to motherhood, coping with being alone after children leave home, step-family dynamics, sexuality, among others. Please feel free to call me for a consultation if you have any sense that additional support at this time would be helpful to you. You deserve it!
